The konjac sponge comes from the root of the plant konnyaku potato or konjaku, it is used for naturally cleansing the skin and it is completely biodegradable. The konjac sponge will last 1-3 month depending on the use and care you take of it. You can find the konjac sponge with or without added ingredients such as clay, green tee, which are beneficial for the skin.
How to use konjac sponge?
The konjac sponge is solid and rough, once you soak it in warm water it becomes soft and can be used with or without a cleanser to gently cleanse the skin. After you’ve used your sponge wash it with warm water and hang it in a place to air-dry, make sure it dries completely between uses.
This sponge is very gentle, it can be used daily without drying or irritating your skin. I use it after removing my makeup to make sure the skin is completely clean.
What are the benefits of using the konjac sponge?
I have oily to combination skin, and the main improvement has been that my skin is less oily. I’ve also noticed an improvement on the appearance of the pores and better skin tone.
The sponge allows you to gently clean the skin daily, without irritating, and is great to use with your regular cleanser.

Hello everyone! I’ve recently come back from a trip to Lisbon. I visited several places and although It was crowded since in August a lot of people travel there I enjoyed my trip.
The pictures above were taken in Palacio da Pena and Sintra, a beautiful town where the Castle is located. Sintra is not far from Lisbon and definitely worth a visit since you can visit different monuments, all surrounded by beautiful gardens. You’ll also be amazed by the views you’ll get from Palacio da Pena, which is located in the top of a hill.
Choosing a good sunscreen is not as easy as it may seem, but wearing a sunscreen all year round is essential for protecting the skin against sun damage. I’ve been using La Roche-Posay sunscreen which is a very light sunscreen, appropriate to wear it underneath makeup and it provides a high protection against UVB and UVA sun rays.
I will share my thoughts on it, but before I want to introduce some important facts to take into account before getting a sunscreen.
You should always wear sunscreen. It doesn’t matter the season or if your are on holidays on warmer weathers or in the city, you should always wear sunscreen. Sun rays are one of the main causes of ageing. I know it is something that everybody is not keen on, because some sunscreens are not good for layering over a moisturizer and underneath makeup, but that is why it is important to choose a sunscreen that doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.
There are two types of sunscreens: physical and chemical. Physical sunscreens contain natural ingredients that will protect skin against sun such as zinc oxide. Chemical sunscreens contain chemical ingredients to protect your skin. Just taking into account the level of protection against sun rays, some dermatologists recommend physical sunscreens because they provide a broader protection.
If you’ve been searching like me a sunscreen, you may as well be familiar with these terms: UVA, UVB and PA+, PA++, PA+++, maybe you know what they mean but if you don’t keep reading:
UVB. UVB sun rays burn your skin which results in redness and irritation.
UVA. UVA sun rays penetrate deeper in the skin they damage skin’s cells and cause ageing, they can also cause melanoma and cancer.
SPF (Sun Protection Factor). Indicates the level of protection against UVB rays. The higher the number the higher your skin will be protected against UVB rays.
PA+, PA++, PA+++ (PPD- Persistent Pigment Darkening). Is often found on Asian sunscreens, which used this terms to indicate the level of protection against UVA rays, being PA+++ the highest level of protection.
Since most sunscreens don’t indicate the level of protection against UVA rays, you should make sure that in your sunscreen it is indicated that it is “broad spectrum” which means that it also protects your skin against UVA rays, or that it is indicated that it provides a high protection against UVA rays.
The sunscreen I’m using is La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL, which is really light making it suitable for wearing under makeup. It is a chemical sunscreen that provides a high UVB and UVA protection. It is available with colour or white which turns transparent once applied.
I really have liked this sunscreen as it’s the lightest one I’ve ever used, my skin haven’t got a bad reaction from using this sunscreen. This sunscreen is absorbed easily and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling on the skin.
The tinted sunscreen doesn’t cover imperfections, it just gives the skin a hint of colour, I’ve used it alone when it’s too hot for doing makeup or underneath my bbcream.
I think it’s time for doing a summer favourites, before we get into autumn. These are the products I’ve liked the most from the ones that I’ve been using during summer. Even though this is a summer favourites all of the products that I’m going to mention can be used all year round. I’ve shown you some of these products before but after using them for a while I can do a more in depth review.
Dr. Organic body scrub
The ingredients in this body scrub are all natural. It doesn’t contained microbeads on it, some body scrubs contained plastic microbeads (polyethylene and polypropylene, on the ingredients list), but this product exfoliates with micro particles of pure volcanic lava. This scrub is really gentle to the skin and it leaves it moisturized.
Rosehip seed oil
This oil moisturizes the skin and improves its appearance making it softer. There are different oils which are sold as rosehip seed oil, but the one that works better is the rosehip seed oil from Chile. Another thing I love about this oil is that it has a dispenser which makes it easier to use.
Physicians Formula Concealer Twins
This concealer has a yellow shade for correcting the under eye area and a light shade for neutralising yellow tones or blend above the colour correction. I love this concealer because it really helps to conceal the under eye area, and the texture is really creamy. This concealer is fragrance free, which means that it doesn’t dry the skin, and as all Physicians formula products is cruelty free. One thing I don’t like about it is the fact that it is only available in one shade, I wish they’d have a wider range of colours to choose from that will suit different skin tones.
Inecto Coconut Hair Treatment
I love this hair treatment, it smells of coconut and the smell lasts in your hair after you’ve washed it. This is a good hair treatment if you want to avoid silicones, it softens the hair and makes it easier to style.

Hello everyone! We’re finally in the last month of summer, and ahead of us we have some weeks to make the best of it before getting back to school or work.
Today I’m sharing with you my basics for summer. As you can tell my style is pretty simple, v-neck t-shirts, Birkenstock style sandals are my go-to pieces for summer.
I think that v-neck t-shirts look good on everybody, and are more versatile than a round neck tee-shirt. They’re perfect for casual wear, and your can wear them with all of your basic pieces.
Birkenstock style sandals are the comfiest sandals you can wear and they’ve been on trend for quite a while, so I think is a good bet if you’re thinking about getting yourself a new pair of sandals. At first I was doubtful about buying them, because I thought they weren’t a “cute” shoe, but although you can’t wear them with some outfits, they really make an outfit stand out. I’ve used them so much, I actually think these sandals look good with almost every outfit.
This is my first post regarding style, I hope that you like it and find it useful.
Clay masks are a good option to help cleaning the skin, specially if you have oily or combination skin. They help to reduce impurities improving your skin’s appearance.
Depending on your skin type you can do a clay mask once or even twice a week, as always it is important to see how the skin reacts to the mask.
For oily skin clay masks can be applied all over the face, for combination skin they can be applied on the oily areas of the face, the forehead, nose and chin.
As for how to apply it, the clay should be mixed with water, you can add organic honey if you want it to moisturise your skin. Once you’ve applied the mask is very important to remove it before it is completely dry. If you leave on your skin the clay mask until it is completely dry, the mask will absorb the moisture, causing dry skin. So when the mask starts to dry you should rinse it.

Hair care is one of the trickiest things. Finding a hair care routine that works for you is difficult, because we have a lot of products to choose from, yet I feel that some products don’t do what they claim.
In a previous post I mentioned that I don’t use hair products with silicones. While I think is a good choice, depending on your hair type you’ll love to avoid silicones or the opposite. If your hair is damaged, consider doing an intensive repair treatment before starting using silicon free products.
I’m trying to find natural products that suit my hair needs. These are the ones that I’m using:
Apple cider vinegar. This is a natural ingredient that has a lot of benefits for health, people use this vinegar for multiple purposes. I use it only for my hair and once a week. I wash my hair, applying my shampoo and conditioner and finally I spray this vinegar (mixed with water, you can add one spoon of vinegar to a glass of water), I let it onto my hair for some minutes and then I rinse my hair. I prefer to use this amount of vinegar to avoid the smell in my hair, nevertheless when the hair has dried it won’t smell. After using this vinegar the hair is softer and without frizz. Using an organic vinegar is better.
Castor oil. This oil is regularly used for hair growth, specially eyelashes and eyebrows, but it can be use in hair too. Sometimes we’re not aware of the amount of hair that we lose, I think this is in part because of the use of chemicals in shampoos. Once a week I massage my scalp with castor oil an hour before washing it. This helps hair growth and moisturises the scalp.
Apart from using these products, avoid regular use of hair tools, such as curling irons and hair straighteners, to help improve your hair health. Also braiding your hair before sleeping will prevent your hair getting tangled, and therefore hair loss.
